The Silk Route in Sikkim refers to the ancient trade route that connected India with Tibet and China. It was part of the larger Trans-Himalayan Silk Route, used for centuries by traders to exchange silk, wool, and other goods. Today, it is a popular tourist destination known for its breathtaking landscapes, high-altitude passes, and cultural heritage.

Highlights of the Sikkim Silk Route:

  1. Zuluk (10,000 ft) – A small village with panoramic views of the Eastern Himalayas.
  2. Thambi View Point (11,200 ft) – Offers a stunning view of the winding roads of the Silk Route.
  3. Lungthung and Gnathang Valley (13,500 ft) – High-altitude grasslands with snow-capped peaks.
  4. Kupup Lake (Elephant Lake) – A picturesque lake resembling an elephant.
  5. NathaICKUPng Valley – Known as the “Ladakh of East Sikkim,” it is one of the highest points in the region.
  6. Old Baba Mandir – Dedicated to Baba Harbhajan Singh, a revered soldier.
  7. Tukla Valley – Offers stunning views of Mount Kanchenjunga.

Best Time to Visit:

  • Summer (April–June): Pleasant weather and clear views.
  • Autumn (September–November): Best for photography with colorful landscapes.
  • Winter (December–March): Snow-covered roads and landscapes, but very cold.

Itinerary

Day 1: NJP/SILIGURI TO SILLERY GAON.

First day from NJP/Siliguri to Sillery Gaon Home Stay, After lunch, walk to Remeti View Point or Ichhegaon and sit on the balcony in the evening and have tea.

Day 2 SILLERY GAON TO LINGTHAM

After breakfast from Sillery Gaon, we will leave for Lingtham. We will also see the Rishi River in Rishikhola. After doing some shopping at the permit and local shop in Rangli Bazar, we will leave for Lingtham. On the way, we will see Qukhola Falls, Lingtham, Bakutar River and the site scene of Arita. For example, Siddhi Vinayak Temple, Arita Lake, Mankhim View Point, spend the night in Lingtham.

Day 3 LINGTHAM TO ZULUK

After breakfast, we will leave for Zuluk. On the way, we will see the site scene of Padamchen. Night bus ZULUK.

Day 4 ZULUK SIGHTSEEING

After breakfast, we will leave for the Silk Route.. On the road, we will first find Zuluk village, a little above it, we will reach #Zigzag view point by climbing along the zigzag road. From this place, we can see the famous zigzag route, after which we will reach #Thambi_Viewpoint. Trying to keep the memories with Kanchenjunga in front. Then we will see #Nathang_valley. Today is also our night bus to ZULUK.

Day 5 ZULUK TO NJP/SILIGURI

After breakfast, saying goodbye to Zuluk, enjoying the beautiful beauty of nature with sweet memories, we will leave for NJP/Siliguri to catch the train.
