  • Trains from Kolkata: Saraighat Express (12345), Kanchenjunga Express (13175).
  • From Guwahati, Shillong is 100 km (3-4 hrs) by road.
 By Air:
  • Shillong Airport (Umroi) – Limited flights.
  • Guwahati Airport (Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport) – Well connected, 3-4 hrs drive to Shillong.
 By Road:
  • Regular taxis, buses, and shared cabs available from Guwahati to Shillong.

Itinerary

Day 1: Sealdah to Guwahati (Train Journey).

Board a train from Sealdah (SDAH) to Guwahati (GHY). Recommended trains:

Saraighat Express (12345) – Departs at 15:55, arrives at 10:05 next day

Kanchenjunga Express (13175) – Departs at 06:35, arrives at 05:30 next day

Overnight Train Journey.

Day 2: Guwahati to Shillong (100 km, 3-4 hrs by road).

Arrive in Guwahati in the morning.

Travel to Shillong via private cab/shared taxi/bus. En route, visit:

Umiam Lake (Barapani) – A scenic lake ideal for photography and boating.

Check-in at a hotel in Shillong.

Start the day with an adventurous trek to Double Decker Living Root Bridge in Nongriat Village (3,500 steps one way).

Explore Rainbow Falls (if time permits).

Return to Cherrapunji by evening.

Day 5: Cherrapunji to Dawki & Mawlynnong (110 km, 4 hrs).

Travel to Dawki, located at the India-Bangladesh border.
